MATERIALS
Polyurethanes, NBR, FPM, PTFE are just some of the materials we can use to produce our custom-turned gaskets. They are painstakingly selected by our technical department to give you the best solution to your demand.
Which are you interested in? Here is the list of all our materials with some technical features to facilitate your decision. If you are uncertain, do not worry, it will be up to us to suggest which best suits your needs.
POLYURETHANES
Polyurethane is a very versatile plastic material used in various product markets. It is an elastomer consisting of urethane bonds that keep the polymer structure firm. In addition, it is resistant to abrasion, hydrolysis, cutting and tearing, remaining flexible over a wide range of temperatures (-20°/+115°). In other words, your gasket will have an extraordinary seal, it will be practically undeformable and easy to assemble.
NBR
The fundamental characteristic of NBR (nitrile rubber) gaskets lies in the high resistance to various chemical agents, such as animal and vegetable oils, fats, solvents, gasolines and aliphatic hydrocarbons, methane and lpg gases, water and saline solutions.
H-NBR
Very similar to NBR, this particular rubber also features hydrogen in its molecular composition, which makes it resistant to the ozone and UV rays. Another differentiating aspect lies in the excellent resistance to high temperatures (up to 160°C). The material also reveals good air and gas impermeability, excellent mechanical properties and great resistance to abrasion and permanent deformation.
EPDM
Gaskets made with EPDM rubbers are ozone and oxygen resistant, without the need to add antiozonant or antioxidant agents. In addition, they are able to excellently withstand heat, water and steam up to 150° in both dry and humid environments. Also important are the mechanical and elastic features, properties which are maintained over time, resistant to numerous low molecular weight chemical products and polar solvents. On the other hand, the resistance to flame, hydrocarbon solvents and mineral oils is poor.
MVQ
This is the abbreviation for silicone. Besides being completely insensitive to thermal excursions, gaskets made of this material have excellent dielectric characteristics. They are also suitable for exposure to ozone and UV rays and they are also ideal for contact with vegetable oils, animal oils and glycols. A suitable material also in water, in aqueous solutions and resistant to atmospheric agents. Lastly, the special series can reach temperatures up to 300°C for short cycles.
PTFE
PTFE has the characteristic of being a chemically inert material with excellent non-toxic properties and thus ideal for use in the food industry meeting FDA and MOCA requirements. Resistance to compression and permanent deformation is one of the best mechanical features of PTFE, same case applying to hardness, flexural strength and plastic memory, in a wide temperature range. In fact, PTFE has excellent dielectric qualities, remaining intact in the values up to a temperature range of between -200 and +260°C.
PLASTICS
POM
Polyoxymethylene (POM) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic technopolymer, with high mechanical strength, used for the production of precision parts that require high rigidity, low coefficient of friction and great dimensional stability. POM has excellent flowability, resistance to wear and low moisture absorption.
PA
Polyamides are the most widely used thermoplastics and they have the advantage of having excellent mechanical properties which are maintained constant even at high and low temperatures. They are also resistant to various chemical agents and to breakage: their hardness, toughness, low coefficient of friction and high attenuation power make them preferred in many applications in the various fields of the mechanical industry.
UHMW-PE
UHMW-PE polyethylene is an ultra-high molecular density pressed technopolymer. Insolubility, excellent chemical resistance and good insulation are its main qualities. It is a very versatile plastic material used in many fields, offering wear durability and good flowability characteristics. Though very stable for all machining operations, it is not suitable for tight tolerances due to deviations stemming from thermal expansions. As a matter of fact, operating temperatures must be between -200°C and 80°C.
PEEK
A semi-crystalline thermoplastic that combines excellent mechanical characteristics, good chemical resistance, PEEK - above all - can be used up to 260°C in hot water or steam. It is also ideal for low temperatures, up to -60°C. Besides having great chemical and mechanical resistance, it also has low permeability to highly aggressive substances such as H2S, CO2, methane and hydrocarbons. It has the highest coefficient of tensile strength coefficient in the plastics family.
